MARK REDMOND & PAT FITZPATRICK
Wexford’s Mark Redmond can boast vast experience as a performer on the uilleann pipes in a traditional context but also in wide range of genres. He has performed as soloist with the RTE Concert Orchestra; RTE National Symphony Orchestra, performed as a soloist on the occasion of the state visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland in 2011. At the Eucharistic Congress in 2012, Mark played solo during the closing ceremony at Croke Park in front of over 80,000 people and to a worldwide live television audience. He also collaborates frequently with Riverdance, Celtic Legends, The Irish Memory Orchestra, The Irish Harp Orchestra, and as part of the Daoirí Farrell trio. This is truly a performer who can rise to any occasion!
Originally from Gorey in Wexford, Pat started playing music when he was aged 7 in the local pipe band. After a few years of been immersed in the pipe band world he became interested in traditional Irish music. He joined the Army School of Music at the age of 18 and spent 10 years playing solo clarinet in the No 1 Army Band. In 1990 he joined the band of An Garda Siochána where he still presently employed. Pat loves playing all types of music but traditional Irish music is his true passion. He has featured as a soloist on many high profile concerts and recordings such as Carraig Chuaire, Echoes of Eireann and Going Home by Phil Coulter. He is currently studying a Masters in traditional performance at DIT.
