ELEANOR MCEVOY and ANNA MIEKE

Eleanor McEvoy came to prominence in 1992 when her song "A Woman's Heart" was released as the lead single for the anthology album of the same name. That record has since gone on to become the best-selling album in Irish history.  Graduating from Trinity College Dublin School of Music she then spent five years as a violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland before embarking on her songwriting career.  Her critically acclaimed canon of work now spans fifteen albums and appearances on numerous compilation albums. Her songs have been covererd by performers such as Emmylou Harris, Mary Black, Mary Coughlan, Eliza Carthy. We are honoured that have her in the line-up for TradFest 2019 where she will play songs inspired by nineteenth century Irish poet Thomas Moore.

Anna Mieke is a musician, songwriter and composer, hailing from the hills of county Wicklow. She composes and performs on guitar and bouzouki, as well as cello and piano in other projects, often collaborating with Brían Mac Gloinn (of Ye Vagabonds; vocals, multi-instrumentalist) and more recently, percussionist Matthew Jacobson (ReDiviDeR, Clang Sayne). She has spent a lot of her life travelling, from the west of Ireland to Spain to Bangladesh to New Zealand, and draws on these experiences for songwriting inspiration, both in lyrics and melodies. She has also spent time focusing on traditional Irish music such as Sean-nós singing, fiddle and cello. Anna is currently in the process of recording her debut album and will be releasing late 2018.
