Have you ever walked into a bar and seen these signs that say, “You don’t have to be mad to work here but it helps” and then your greeted by the dullest, mind-numbingly boring bar staff? Here in Club Malfi madness is an essential requirement.
Inspired by John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi (1614) our Club Malfi is set in the current day. It is a run down, late night, cabaret club where the owner, the Duchess is planning her escape from her corrupt brothers Cardinal and Ferdinand. The audience will follow the various characters’ stories of love, deception and murder over the course of one night.
The action is spread over two floors and six rooms. The audience will be led by club bouncers to various locations and also are invited to roam freely from room to room. Miz Cordelia and the resident Cabaret will be performing in the Theatre.
