Tell It On The Mountain
Tell It On The Mountain is a new play by John Murphy telling the story of the small remote Irish village of Black Mountain. In 1964 the village is decimated by abject poverty, emigration and a lack of hope. A young curate father John Lynch struggles to tend his dwindling flock. The church is destined to close and the small community is fated to disappear forever until a stranger arrives in town.
Mercy McGifford is a gospel singing tour de force hailing from South Chicago where the civil rights movement under Martin Luther King is in the eye of the storm. Two worlds collide, one clinging desperately to the old beliefs and traditions and another where change is the only hope.
What ensues is a true, feel good story of faith hope and comedy with music to raise the roof that will have you singing and smiling all the way home. The cast are led by singing sensation Karen Underwood, herself a native of Chicago. Appearing alongside Karen will be Claudia Carroll, acclaimed Fair City actor and best selling novelist, Mark O'Regan, one of Ireland's most loved theatre actors, Stephen O'Leary, Wes O'Duin, Aoife Fitzpatrick and Moses O.W.
Helene Montague presents the music and score while Mark Lambert returns to direct, fresh home from a magnificent year on Broadway in NYC and the West End of London with the smash hit 'The Ferryman'.
