Booka Brass Band are Ireland first and only 7-piece New Orleans style Brass Band.
Booka Brass Band have developed their sound and set up over the last twelve months through a succession of great opportunities, all well deserved and well executed. They have also grown in size, now containing seven members consisting of two trumpets, two trombones, saxophone, sousaphone and drums. With six band members still full-time students, they also stretch the length and breadth of the country coming from Cork all the way to Belfast, studying everything from medicine to law. Classically trained, the band also brings a great understanding of classical harmony which can be heard behind the beats of their original tunes. They have been building profile with regular shows in Twisted Pepper, Whelans and The Sugar Club.
2013 saw them rise swiftly up the ranks with top level shows at Electric Picnic, Sea Sessions, Longitude, The Cork Jazz Festival along with shows with brass heroes Hot 8 Brass Band, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.
Booka Brass have collaborated with many artists including Lisa Hannigan and Jerry Fish who will join them as special guests at their headline show in Button Factory on March 28th.
Last year ended with a hugely successful slot just before midnight to a sold out Vicar Street at the Turning Pirate Mix Tape New Years Eve show.
This will be Booka Brass Bands first headline show in 2014 and promises to be a night not to be missed.
Student ID must be presented upon entry for tickets bought at concession price.
