DARK SIDE OF THE MOON
British artist Girish Paul was born in India and Grammar School educated in the UK. After graduating from university, Girish demonstrated a unique talent for mastering all manner of musical instruments from western guitars, drums and piano to ethnic instruments from the Indian subcontinent, and he subsequently toured the world with various bands throughout the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. He performed with several bands at the Birmingham leg of Bob Geldof’s Live Aid concerts in 1985, and also performed his award winning song Wedding Bells on the BBC to celebrate the Royal Wedding in 1986 between Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. In 1990, Girish’s music for the World Cup in Italy was pipped to the post by a single vote in favour of Luciano Pavarotti’s Nessun Dorma that subsequently launched the tenor’s career internationally.
In 2004, Girish turned solo and toured Ireland following the release of his debut solo album A Hundred Miles To Go that was cut at the world famous Abbey Road Studios in London, where The Beatles changed the world and Pink Floyd recorded their classic 50 million selling album Dark Side Of The Moon.
As a Singer-Songwriter in his own right, Girish has worked with the likes of John David (Cliff Richard, Status Quo, Robert Plant, Shakin’ Stevens), Nick Webb (Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder), and his new album JourneyMan was mastered by Pete Maher, who has worked with U2 and The Rolling Stones.
In 2017, Girish embarked on a ten date charitable tour of Ireland performing The Beatles Greatest Hits to raise funds for The Irish Cancer Society and Barnado’s.
Cutting his latest album JourneyMan at Abbey Road Studios next to the room in which Pink Floyd recorded the epic Dark Side Of The Moon inspired Girish to produce a wondrous tribute to the music of the band which he will be touring Ireland and the UK. The concert is Executive Produced by Carmel Barrett, of Sallybrook Productions (UK) and produced in association with The Palace Theatre in Fermoy, Co.Cork
Girish has also composed two musicals for the theatre. Frankenstein – The New Musical was performed at the Firkin Crane Theatre in Cork in 2006. Gandhi – The New Musical was performed as a showcase at the Tristan Bates Theatre in London’s West End in 2009. The new album JourneyMan is now released worldwide.
