Howth Roots and Blues Festival Presents - Susan O'Neill - Plus Special Guest Seamus Harty

Susan O'Neill:

Susan has spent the last few years honing her craft as a solo performer. A songwriter of hidden depths, with a timeless voice that is equal parts balm and blowtorch, she is audacity personified, a free spirit, a real performer.

Since the release of the critically acclaimed collaboration album with Mick Flannery ‘In The Game’, Susan has toured extensively across Europe and North America, performing both with Mick and solo on headline tours, festival stages, and as an invited guest to an array of artists including Phoebe Bridgers, Calexico, Jamie Cullum, Valerie June and The Teskey Brothers.

Described already by Clash as “Superb” and the Sunday Times as simply “Exquisite” alongside previous nominations for the Radio 1 ‘Best Female Folk Artist’ and the Choice Music Prize. Susan's new solo album 'Now in a Minute' came out on September 20th 2024 and went straight to No. 1 on the Independent Album charts, described by Hotpress as an “Artist working at the top of her game..” and “A wondrous showcase of O’Neill’s bubbling creative prowess” and by Rolling Stone as 'An album of great intimacy; it is an album full of close-ups, Like emotional macro photographs”.. In their 4 star review The Irish Times said of the album that it's got “a heavy agenda through music full of nuance, invention, and charm.” The publication also noted that Susan “wastes no emotion, with every song lived and crafted to elicit her truth”.

Seamus Harty:

Seamus is a 24-year-old, Kerry born up-and-coming Irish musician who’s debut single ‘The Dirty Mirror’ has soared to well over 100,000 hits on Spotify. He is currently finishing up his final year, studying ‘music’ in BIMM University, Dublin. Seamus has been making waves for himself in the Irish music scene over the last few years now and has opened for names like; ‘Damien Dempsy’, ‘The Hot House Flowers’, ‘Ryan Sheridan’ and ‘Hermitage Green’.

Seamus’s music transcends a unique mix of genres, and his distinctive soulful tone connects with audiences leaving long lasting impressions long after the shows are over. His much anticipated and third single, ‘The Butterfly House’, is due to be released on the 16th of May, this year. He is also gearing up for debut headline shows this summer, taking the stage at the iconic ‘Whelan’s’ in Dublin and ‘Mike the Pies’ in Listowel on the 7th and 6th of August. With an ever-growing fanbase and a future brimming with potential, Seamus is certainly one of the most exciting young artists in the Irish music industry right now.
