The Bonny Men - Homecoming
Age Information
This is an All Ages Event.Feile Nasc Presents: The Bonny Men - Homecoming
With three studio albums recorded, The Bonny Men have gone from strength to strength, performing regularly on television, radio, and across the festival circuit. Over more than a decade, the band has drawn on their collective experience to shape a sound that walks the fine line between traditional Irish music and a new, vibrant energy — all underpinned by the powerful, driving arrangements for which they are renowned.
This vital seven-piece group is comprised of brothers Conor and Barry Lyons, siblings Natalie Ní Chasaide and Maitiú Ó Casaide, Adam Whelan, Turlough Chambers, and Moss Landman. The Bonny Men have recently welcomed Róisín Chambers, whose sean-nós singing brings a fresh and dynamic dimension to the band’s sound. Staying true to their traditional roots, The Bonny Men are celebrated for their ability to take the music from its home place and give it new life — revitalising and reimagining long-lost and hidden tunes.
This special ‘Homecoming’ concert, presented by Féile Nasc, holds deep significance for the band. It marks their first performance in Ranelagh since their debut at the Ranelagh Arts Festival in Sandford Church in 2011, and celebrates the 10th anniversary of their second album, Moyne Road — named after Natalie and Maitiú Ó Casaide’s family home in Ranelagh. For over 15 years, Moyne Road has served as The Bonny Men’s creative home, the place where their music has been shaped, rehearsed, and refined.
Féile Nasc, Dublin’s outdoor folk and traditional music festival based in Marlay Park, has built a strong reputation for presenting outstanding performances that celebrate the link between music, community, and place. Following successful events featuring many of Ireland’s leading folk and traditional artists, Féile Nasc is proud to bring this unique concert to Ranelagh.
The band’s deep ties to this small corner of Dublin make this event a truly meaningful occasion — a chance to experience The Bonny Men performing just a stone’s throw from where their sound was born, in the intimate, candle-lit surroundings of the Church of the Holy Name, Beechwood, Ranelagh
